When we started this whole house building journey I told that kids that they could pick out how they wanted to decorate their rooms, of course I will have some say in it. Viv will be nine by the time we will start to move in, that in between stage of “i’m not a little girl” and ” mom says your not a teenager yet” I believe it is called being a ‘tween. She loves bright colors; Pink, Teal & Coral being her favorites and absolutely hates black. Reading is one of her most favorite things to do so I would like to have a spot for her to read in her room. Right now when she reads she just tries to find the quietest place in the house. Then I think each child should have a desk of their own to do their school work and stay out of my desk!
I have put together a few ideas for when we are ready to start planning her room.
Painting or wall papering your walls is a quick way to make a big impact on the room.
I probably won’t be committing to any large walls being painted just yet, so I will be looking to add in her favorite colors with accents. Rugs, painted furniture and wall decor all sound like good ideas to me.
I think that one of these swinging chairs would be a great spot for her to read in. I’m not sure how Eric would feel about hanging one from the ceiling so I am glad that I found some floor stand options too.
I already have a desk for each of the kids and with some paint they should fit in perfectly with whatever their new decor may be.
For a few more months we are still living the dream until the building begins!
Love Always … Tam
