Must Haves for your Family Command Center

It’s the new year, a time to reflect on the past and try to figure out how to keep your shit together in the future!

With recently moving I have not been up on my family organization… like the fact I forgot the kids didn’t have school on Monday. Whoops!

The fore mentioned incident just solidifies the fact that the next home project I should be working on is our Family Command Center.

There is an empty space on the side of the fridege that I think would be the perfect spot for our Family Command Center. It is the first thing you see when you enter the house from the garage and just out of eyesight so I don’t have to look at it all the time.

What should you include in your Family Command Center?
Glad you asked.
Here are my Must Haves for your Family Command Center:

One. A Calendar

I tend to go for an erasable board monthly calendar, there is just something about wiping away the month and writing out the new month.  But if you have a 12-month calendar hanging on your wall you can look forward to the months ahead.

Two. Baskets

One of my biggest pet peeves is when the mail just gets tossed on the counter! I don’t want the junk cluttering my (sometimes) clean kitchen. Get yourself a designated  basket for your mail.  While your at it, add one or two more for other important materials.

Three. Note Pad & Pen

Put pen to paper. Leave a little note for your family. Jot down groceries needed. Quickly write that thought before it leaves your mind.

Four. Hooks

Hang your keys. Hang your sunglasses. Or just leave them because they are pretty or hang something pretty from them….

Five. A Place to Stick It

Cork Board and/or Magnetic Boards to put notes, pictures or tickets to an upcoming event.

Six. Clock

An organized person should also know what time it is.

Seven. Personal Touch

This is a Family Command Center after all, make it personal. Add your family name or just the first letter. Add some recent family photos or maybe some throw backs.
